Mar 29, 2019 On a Mac, you'll instead click the downloaded vCard file, click File in the upper-left corner of the screen, select Open With, click the Outlook option, and follow any on-screen instructions. This will import your Gmail contacts. If you closed the Outlook app, re-open it before proceeding. After considering the ongoing necessity to migrate from Outlook for Mac to Gmail, we have described a manual procedure to let the users understand how to migrate from Mac Outlook to Gmail account. Else, users can opt for a reliable third-party tool, i.e., OLM to Gmail Converter that makes easy for them to move data. However, after getting my whole account (3.5GB) to sync, I noticed that my Gmail IMAP subfolders were not syncing. Sending and receiving via IMAP worked great, but the subfolders were not syncing. I called Apple — they said it was a server issue. Contacted Gmail. The account setup is in place in Outlook and when I click send/receive initially it appears to be promising: I get a Gmail prompt for email address/password, then I get a prompt to allow Outlook to read my emails and associate my personal info etc., but at the end I get this failure message.
How to forward email from Outlook for Mac
- Open Outlook for Mac and click the Home tab.
- Click Rules (located near the center).
- Select Edit Rules from the drop down menu.
- Be sure that your mailbox is selected on the left under Server Rules then select the plus (+) sign near bottom to add a rule.
- Change the rule name to Forward Email.
- Change the From drop down, located under the When a new message arrives that meets all these conditions: to All Messages.
See image below for steps 6 - 10. - Under the Do the following heading change Move to Folder to Redirect to.
- Type the email address you would like to forward to in the field.
- Ensure that the boxes are checked for:
- Do not apply other rules to messages that meet the same conditions
- Enabled
- Click OK.
The rule should be listed with the box checked in the Rules window. Click the red dot in the upper left to finish.

1. With your Outlook inbox open, click on the 'File' tab in the upper left corner of the screen.

How to add Gmail to Outlook on a Mac
1. Open Outlook, click on 'Preferences,' then click on 'Accounts.'
2. Click on the plus sign icon ('+') and then click 'New Account.'
3. Type in your Gmail address and password as though you are signing into Gmail, and click 'Add Account' when you are finished.
4. Click 'Continue,' then 'Sign in to Google.'
5. Click on your Gmail account, type in your password, and then click 'Next.'
6. Click 'Allow,' then 'Open Microsoft Outlook.'
